Reporting Abuse

If you suspect a child is being abused, it should be reported to Medina County Job and Family Services (MCJFS) at

330.661.0800.

If a child is in immediate danger, please call 911.

The longer abuse continues, the greater the potential for serious and long-term emotional and psychological difficulties are for the child.

Human Trafficking
What is it?
Human Trafficking is when a person is forced into sexual exploitation or domestic or manual labor by way of:
Force – confinement and physical and/or sexual abuse
Fraud – false promises, false affection and lies about working conditions
Coercion – threats of harm or trouble with law enforcement, isolation and emotional abuse
Signs to look for…
  • Works long hours with no days off and/or has little or no money
  • Is not allowed to speak to people alone or always has someone speaking for him/her
  • Has poor living conditions (such as sleeping at place of employment or sharing a one-bedroom apartment with 15 people)
  • Has a much older and/or controlling boyfriend or girlfriend
  • Has visible signs of abuse such as bruises, cuts, burns, sleep deprivation or malnourishment
  • Many unexcused absences from school
  • Drug addiction
  • Many visits to hospital, doctor’s office or health care clinic for STIs (sexually transmitted infections), illness and/or unexplained injuries

Mission: To educate and promote for the prevention and end of human trafficking and to provide help and networks for victims to begin healing.
The Coalition provides presentations throughout the community on human trafficking. If you wish to schedule a presentation for your group, staff or school, please email us at:
HumanTrafficking@MedinaCountyChildrensCenter.org
Volunteer opportunities – The S.O.A.P Project (Save Our Adolescents from Prostitution) is a form of outreach the Coalition participates in. Trained volunteers help offer the soap free-of-charge to hotels/motels along with posters of missing children in the area. Attached to the soap are stickers with the human trafficking hotline number, so victims can call for help.
