The reality is that child abuse is not something that happens in other communities. In 2010, within our community there were 475 investigations and that is only the reported number, there are still many incidents of child abuse occuring that is not reported each year. Research indicates that 1 out of every 3 girls and 1 out of every 5 boys are sexually assaulted by the age of 18. This community that we call home, where our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews attend school, play soccer and march in the band, is no exception. Fortunately, healing starts here…
