As the only organization of its kind in Medina County, the Children’s Center of Medina County (CCMC) reduces the re-victimization of the child, removes obstacles, improves investigations and treatments, and increase criminal prosecution with its distinctive multidisciplinary team. The CCMC is a Child Advoacy Center (CAC) and works in agreement with public and private agencies to improve child abuse cases in Medina County.
74 children came to the Center in 2015 as a result of Child Sexual Abuse.
We provided these children 34 Medical Examinations and 71 Forensic Interviews; all free of charge.
- 72% of the children were females.
- 44% of the children were between the ages of 0 to 6 years.
- 90% of child sexual abuse victims know their abuser.
- 30% of children sexually abused are abused by family members.
Since our doors opened in 2007, we have provided 655 children with services as a result of being sexually abused.
The sad fact is that for every one child we see at the Children's Center, there are ten more children who suffer in silence…too afraid to tell.
